After an awareness session to identify the symptoms related to Long COVID, the free camp was Inaugurated by GSPT Team with chief guests Dr. C.V. Rao, Pro VC GIMSR, with Dr. Jyothi Padmaja, Dr. Dwarakanath, Dr. Madhuri Kasi, Dr. Sudhir Yerramilli and Dr. David Raju garu. This camp was conducted at Outpatient Physiotherapy Department, GIMSR Hospital, Visakhapatnam.
A free camp titled “Road to Recovery Post Covid through Physiotherapy” was conducted in GIMSR on 6th, 7th and 8th September.
The focus of the camp was to identify long COVID-19 related tiredness and other offer ways to overcome them. A good number of participants between the age 25 – 81 years from either gender who have recovered from COVID have utilized the opportunity and actively participated in the camp. The camp was very well appreciated by participants.
GSPT celebrated World Health Day on 7th April 2022, in collaboration with Special Olympics team at the Lebenshilfe School in Vizag. The event was graced by the presence of President GITAM University, Mr. M. Sri Bharat. Faculty and students from GSPT actively participated as “Clinical Volunteers” in the screening and treatment of specially-abled athletes. The certificates are awarded as a part of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s “FIT INDIA” program.
On the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, GSPT students & faculty organized a small celebration on 4th April, 2022. The event started with GSPT director Dr. Madhuri Kasi lighting lamps and other senior faculty, followed by a prayer song. The students then shared their own experiences of New year celebrations in various regions. The event was completed by fun games for the faculty as well as students.
Our International student, Mr. Shishir Regmi, participated in the Inter-Residence Championships-2022, in the sport of Table tennis & Cricket, conducted on 21st & 23rd March 2022. He emerged as part of the winning team in the Table tennis event.
One of our students, Ms. Varshita N., participated in 2 Live Art events (Drawing Chaplin & Harry potter theme under 10 mins) organized by the ‘Creative Arts Club- Kalakriti’ on 1st April 2022.
Our student, Ms. Varshitha N., actively took part in the campus wall painting and also in a live art poster-making event “Mad Carnival” organized by the Rotaract Student Club.
Orientation Day program was hosted for students and parents on 18th and 19th October with welcome and introductory sessions including interactions with faculty of ELON University and Board Members and fun activities.
The students organized and participated in various cultural events, games and competitions on December 18th, 2021.
GITAM School of Physiotherapy, along with the Community Medicine department of GIMSR Medical College, have started contributing to society by providing physiotherapy treatment services to Rural health Training centre & urban health training centre under the management of Dr. Vineel P.
GITAM School of Physiotherapy, in collaboration with the Sports Directorate, has set up an in-house Sports Physiotherapy Clinic to help with performance enhancement and managing injuries. All students & faculties can avail these services. The clinic is functional from 3-5 pm.
